i dont really know what the fundemantals are but heres the REAL tricks to getting “good” at art:

- have fun. draw things you love over and over and over, focus on the little things you like, incorporate them. its all about joy

- trace things! see how things flow into eachother and come together in real life AND in other peoples art, so that you can see how to put that into your own art :3 go over the shapes that make up different objects, then try it on your own. incorporate those shapes!

- shapes!! shapes are good!! something might look difficult on the surface, and you might think youre not smart or creative enough to draw it… but thats not true! aloooot of things can be made with circles and ovals and triangles once you figure out where they are! like cats, its a longways diamond head, bottom-heavy upways diamond for the snout, triangle ears, triangle nose, and just keep finding more shapes!! theres so many shapes!!

- if you arent intuitive about copying things you see, you can always try and measure things to see the ratio between the distances of certain things… like the nose of a cat its 1/3rd up the face, maybe, and the bottom of the ear starts about 2/3rds up the head, and the eyes are just about halfway up (but you can put them a bit lower if you want it to be cuter ;3) ! you dont have to have crazy childhood talent to portray what you want :3

- watch plenty of movies, videos, anime, cartoons, everything! see the different methods used to portray things in different regions of animation, the way the utilize simple shapes to beautiful collages of color and movement! watch nature documentaries to see all the different behaviors in animals you wouldnt think pf beforehand, see the ways they move and how they look in different environments, and from all different angles! watch gymnastics or parkour or even dance videos to see all the different things the human body can do, and all the intricate little details you see with an odd movement you dont see often!

- to repeat the first point: it is all about LOVE! draw what you love the best you can and you will eventually start creating something you can love and be proud of! of course you should always be proud of your art either way :3
